The 2017 Earth Day Event will be held in conjunction with Healthy
Kids Day at the Manitowoc YMCA. Both events draw on the theme
that a healthy lifestyle and healthy environment go hand in hand.
The events will feature a drug collection event coordinated by Manitowoc County Recycling
Center, Metro Drug Unit and Health Department.
The Earth Day Event is an annual gathering of local and regional businesses, organizations,
and individuals that promote sustainable, activities in our communities. The public is invited
to attend, FREE of charge, and learn more about a wide range of topics including: local
food, organic gardening, nature conservation, composting, recycling and waste reduction,
healthy lifestyles and communities, and local businesses offering environmentally friendly
products and services. The event has many activities geared toward children and will have
food by local vendors.
Some activities at the event will include: educational booths, children’s activities, seedling
planting by Roorbach Flowers, Educational Animals by Wildlife of Wisconsin, Music
performances and song with participation for all ages including song, drumming and
movement, Nitrate Testing for well water by League of Women Voters (bring 1/2 Cup
sample).
